Sexual Harassment

Have you experienced being sexually harassed? If yes, did you have the courage to stand for what you know is your right? But before that, do you really know what sexual harassment is? Well, let me define it for you. Sexual harassment is an uninvited or unwelcome verbal or physical behavior of a sexual nature especially by a person in authority toward a subordinate. Now if you would tell me that you’ve experienced being harassed, you are not the only one and you are not the first person who encountered the same situation. There are a lot of people who have been a victim of this abuse.

Personally, I’ve experienced being harassed at an early age of 12. It was by someone whom I treated as a good friend. Someone who is a fellow student. Someone who’s age is same as mine. And I didn’t have the courage to stop him, to remove his hand off of me. And aside from that, he also proudly told his friend what he did and what he felt after harassing me sexually. Up until now, I am still bothered by the fact that a young boy can do such malicious thing. So what do I want to imply? To spread? I think that it’s the time to pay attention on how to educate each and everyone of us more about sexual harassment and how to fight for ourselves regardless of our gender, sexuality, age, religion, and regardless of our diversion.
